# clsSetAwardPaymentPending

`clsSetAwardPaymentPending` drives the award-to-Pending workflow: it retrieves an active award, cascades a benefit-payment retrieve when active, and on save updates both the award status and the associated benefit payment (see [Set award to Pending](../../operations/award-pending.md)).

## Purpose
- Retrieves an active award and its associated benefit payment ([SQL-031](../../sql/SQL-031.md), [SQL-032](../../sql/SQL-032.md)).
- Updates the award status to Pending and cascades the benefit payment to In Progress ([SQL-048](../../sql/SQL-048.md), [SQL-049](../../sql/SQL-049.md)), enforcing [BR-011](../../business-rules.md#br-011-award-must-be-successfully-updated-to-pending).

## Behavioral notes
- The award update (SQL-048) has no `UPDATE_NUM` predicate in its WHERE clause and is therefore not protected by the optimistic-concurrency check used elsewhere in this library.*

- Callers should check `HasActiveAward` before assuming a benefit-payment cascade will occur.
